Welcome to the Lyceum Markets
2014 Holiday Marketplace :
The Lyceum Holiday Marketplace in 2014 is going to two weekends(December 13/14, 20/21). There will be two theater productions(instead of one) during both weekends. We are seeking a mix of interesting, functional, useful and (mostly) affordable items for the crowds along with some of the usual suspects that do well each year. Applications HERE. Note that prices have gone up. We have kept the prices steady since our first market way back in 2008. Our costs have certainly increased. More importantly, though, we are getting ready to implement our greenish HVAC systems and will have better heat this time. Part of that is some form of eco-friendly roof. It is what must be done to properly ecologically honor the origin architect, Raymond Francis Almirall. You can see some of his work in four of the Carnegie Libraries (including the in danger of destruction Pacific Street branch) and the Emigrant Savings Bank Building on Chambers Street. He also was the lead architect at the restoration at the Palace at Versailles. It took us a few years and a few investigative interactions with some consultant-types to see where the high road went.
We will have up to 65 vendors.
Tentatively scheduled are A Charlie Brown Christmas and A Christmas Carol.
Charlie Brown will run from December 11-22. Thursdays & Fridays @ 7PM, Saturdays and Sundays @ 1, 4 & 7PM. Tickets are $10 for one and $40 for a 4-pak.
A Christmas Carol will run from December 11-22 also. Thursdays & Fridays @ 8PM, Saturdays and Sundays @ 2, 5 & 8PM. We may also be adding shows on Dec 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 & 27. Tickets are $15 for 1, $50 for a 4-pak.
Note that these will be part of the Brooklyn Lyceum's new children's/family theater initiative and Lyceum memberships will get you priority seating as well as some other benefits. This initiative will include a production of the original L. Frank Baum Wizard of Oz this spring and The Headless Horseman in the fall.
Due to the increasing numbers of people coming in from out of town for the shows we are placing tickets available now.
You can get them HERE. So make your holiday travel plans and your holiday family entertainment plans whenever it suits you. Note that we will have a liberal date-switching policy(capacity available basis) as we know that things change. Children get sick, snow storms stop trains, etc.
Till then CARPE BROOKLYN.
